Crimson Tide players and coaches celebrated another Super Regional title, the program’s 10th, with a 4-1 decision over Kentucky on Saturday. The win sends Alabama to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. It’s the Crimson Tide’s 13th trip to the WCWS.
Sixth Inning Comeback Sends Alabama to Championship Round
Any semifinal game comes with a lot of pressure, and the team that can perform under it is the team that will prevail. That team was Alabama tonight as they defeated the Tennessee Lady Vols 6-5 in an action packed game.
“I think it’s exactly what we needed and the best part is we ended up winning,” head coach Patrick Murphy said. “It was just one of those Rhoads House magic games that happen frequently.”
The sixth inning brought the action and the pressure.
Starting pitcher Montana Fouts had reached 97 pitches and given up a single. Murphy made the decision to put Lexi Kilfoyl in the circle.

Alabama will have a chance to earn its first SEC softball tournament championship since 2012 when it meets No. 1 seed Florida in the title game Saturday evening.
The No. 3 seed Tide defeated No. 7 seed Tennessee, 6-5, in the tournament semifinals Friday evening, setting up a meeting with the Gators in Tuscaloosa’s Rhoads Stadium. The game will air on ESPN2 at 5 p.m. CT.
