He said: “There are potential dates where there will be vaccinations and a football match running at the same time but I don’t see how this could be an issue, especially as fans cannot come and watch matches.
Thousands of people are expected to receive their coronavirus jabs each week at Colchester United s stadium. The Jobserve Community Stadium, located off the A12 off United Way, opened as a mass vaccination centre this morning. People in the top four priority groups, including those aged 70 and above, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable, are having their jabs administered first. Health and care workers are also being vaccinated at the centre to protect themselves and others. The jabs at the football ground are taking place on the concourses beneath the seating, and a walk through system is in place so people adhere to the latest coronavirus restrictions.

New vaccination centres are set to open in Suffolk and north Essex this week.
It has been confirmed that the former Riverwalk School in Bury St Edmunds, Colchester United s JobServe Community stadium, Clacton Hospital and Chelmsford City Race Course are all set to become large vaccination centres.
Each will be able to inject hundreds of people to help grow the vaccination programme as more supplies become available.
The new centres follow the opening of a site at Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich, which began vaccinations last week.
