Buncombe County Man Charged With Murder (Buncombe County, NC) A Buncombe County 74-year-old is in jail for murder. Ronald Haynes is accused of shooting his housemate to death on White Oak Gap Road yesterday. He was taken to the Buncombe County Detention Facility, and is being held without bond.

Cawthorn told WLOS-TV last week that his statements to supporters before the protests weren t enough to place any fault on himself. The Republican tweeted last week let s show Washington our backbones are made of steel and titanium. He then said at a pro-Trump rally that the crowd had some fight in it.

The rolling average of cases over the last week is close to six-thousand per day. State public health officials reported over 68-hundred new cases yesterday, which is only second to the single-day high of 75-hundred set on Friday. North Carolina s top health official, Dr. Mandy Cohen, calls the rise alarming.Beasley Concedes Chief Justice Race (Raleigh, NC) The race for Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court is over. Democrat incumbent Cheri Beasley conceded to Republican Paul Newby on Saturday after the conclusion of a hand recount in the race. The difference was around only 400 votes. Newby is the longest running justice serving on the state s high court.

Arrest made in deadly shooting in Whitsett shopping center parking lot Guilford Co. deputies found 23-year-old Nicholas Pike with a gunshot wound at a shopping center on Burlington Road in Whitsett Sunday night. A man was shot Sunday in the parking lot of a Whitsett shopping center.  Guilford County deputies were called to the shopping center parking lot in the 6400 block of Burlington Road around 11:20 p.m.  Nicholas Pike, 23, was found with serious injuries and taken to a hospital.  Investigators said he was in critical condition as of Monday morning.
