BEMIDJI The Bemidji City Council on Monday, April 5, gave the Minnesota Department of Transportation the green light to reconstruct a section of U.S. Highway 71.
The city s approval was needed as a section of the project will take place within the city limits. MnDOT is planning to reconstruct an 8.5-mile stretch of road from State Highway 197 to Winter Sumac Road.
Road work, rental code and more on the agenda for Bemidji City Council tonight
During tonight s Bemidji City Council meeting, a proposed project on U.S. Highway 71 will be reviewed, along with the creation of a committee to review rental codes and a resolution allowing restaurants to serve guests in public right-of-ways.

BEMIDJI The Minnesota Department of Transportation is looking to receive municipal approval Monday, April 5, from the Bemidji City Council to begin work on U.S. Highway 71.
On the council s agenda, MnDOT representatives are scheduled to hold a public hearing about its improvement project for Highway 71, from State Highway 197 to Winter Sumac Road. Along the 8.5-mile stretch, MnDOT is planning one roundabout and several reduced conflict intersections.

DeKALB The DeKalb County Health Department announced Friday the number of positive COVID-19 cases increased to 8,520.
Among those who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus, 1,416 are younger than 19, 2,000 are in their 20s, 1,274 are in their 30s, 1,199 are in their 40s, 1,077 are in their 50s, 742 are in their 60s, 424 are in their 70s and 388 are 80 or older.
As of Friday, 113 people have died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the DCHD.
DeKalb County has administered 19,369 vaccines as of Friday, and 6,236 county residents are fully vaccinated, 5.99% of the county population, according to state vaccine data.
At DeKalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 2600 N. Annie Glidden Road., 75 staff members and 53 residents have tested positive for COVID-19. As of Friday, 12 DeKalb County Rehabilitation residents have died from COVID-19.
