The Arizona Coyotes have parted ways with head coach Rick Tocchet, the team announced on Sunday. After meeting with Rick, we have agreed that a coaching change is in the best interest of the club, general manager Bill Armstrong said in a statement. This was a very difficult decision, but we believe that it is time for a new direction and new leadership.
Tocchet, whose contract will expire on June 30, has been with the Coyotes since 2017, compiling a 125-131-34 record. He led Arizona to the playoffs last season, the first time since the Coyotes advanced to the playoffs in 2012.

Game Recap
The 2020-21 season is over for the Arizona Coyotes. It didn’t end the way anyone wanted, and the Desert Dogs won’t be advancing to the playoffs, but it ended with a bit of hope.
Tonight wasn’t the Coyotes’ best game of the season. Arizona was far from perfect, and if it were any other night, there would be plenty of issues we could examine.
But since the season is ending with back-to-back wins against the San Jose Sharks, why not focus on the good. It was a fun game, and the Coyotes’ weak spots just made it more fun.
