According to a report from the
New York Daily News on Thursday (May 6), LAPD detective Christian Carrasco testified during the hearing for 20-year-old Corey Walker, one of three adults who were charged in connection to the beloved rhymer s killing. The identities of the two others have not been revealed, presumably because they are minors. This hearing will dictate whether or not Walker will go to trial.
The detective said on the witness stand that masked men entered the Hollywood Hills home Pop Smoke was staying at back in February of 2020, through the second-story balcony. At the time of the intrusion, the Brooklyn rapper was showering.
Los Angeles, CA – Pop Smoke (real name Bashar Barakah Jackson) was shot and killed at a Hollywood Hills home in February 2020, just as his career was about to explode. Roughly five months later, the Los Angeles Police Department arrested multiple people for the murder, including two juveniles.
The
New York Daily News now reports a detective involved in the case testified in court on Friday (May 7) and revealed the group of teens believed to be responsible for the killing were desperate to steal Pop Smoke’s diamond-studded Rolex. The alleged triggerman was also just 15 years old.
The investigator said they had their eyes on Pop Smoke’s Cuban link chain but only managed to get the watch, which they then resold for a mere $2,000.

The events that led to Pop Smoke s death are now being revealed.
Investigators transpired the details using a first-hand witness’ testimony. LAPD detective Christian Carrasco described a group of armed intruders busted through the second-floor balcony of the Airbnb mansion while he was in the shower. One of the suspects held the woman in Pop’s bedroom at gunpoint while the others rushed him in the bathroom.
“She heard a struggle coming from the shower area and heard Mr. Jackson screaming,” the detective said. “Mr. Jackson ran out of the bathroom and then she heard a loud pop and [heard] Mr. Jackson fall to the ground. Two other individuals began to kick him. Mr. Jackson gets up and run downstairs. She hears two more pops. She follows Mr. Jackson, sees him on the ground and screams for Michael (Durodola) to call 911.”
Pop Smoke was gunned down by a 15-year-old shooter who ambushed the Brooklyn rapper with a group of teens bent on stealing the singerâs diamond-studded Rolex, a detective testified Friday.
The home intruders also were after the rapperâs Cuban link chain but apparently only managed to swipe the luxury timepiece, which they later resold for $2,000, the detective said.
The teen who pulled the trigger, the youngest of the four defendants now facing murder and robbery charges in the case, allegedly admitted his role in the Hollywood Hills slaying during a recorded interview with a cellmate at a juvenile detention center last May.
