The Salvation Army has received five thousand dollars from the St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) for its 2020 annual Christmas Kettle Appeal.
The donation, which is made annually, is a part of VINLEC’s outreach programme that seeks to provide support to the less fortunate in the community.
VINLEC’s Communications Officer, Tamara Job-Sprott, said the company is honoured to provide assistance to the Salvation Army as the organisation makes a difference in the lives of so many. She said that this year has been quite challenging for all in society and more so for those who are disadvantaged.

This season, as part of Variety s Christmas Appeal, the Kiwi Kid Sponsorship children have each created a pīwakawaka Christmas decoration for their sponsor.
This festive season, the pīwakawaka has assumed a starring role in the Kiwi Kid Sponsorship (KKS) programme delivered by Variety - the Children s Charity. Through KKS, children in need are matched with an individual sponsor whose funding helps provide the child with clothing, stationery, school uniform and warm bedding, as well as extracurricular activities. This gives sponsored children the opportunity to fully participate in school life. As part of Variety s Christmas Appeal, sponsored children have decorated a pīwakawaka for their sponsor and in return, sponsors have decorated a pīwakawaka Christmas card.

Despite pre-Covid predictions, the country s property market has gone absolutely berserk.
Property in the Bay of Plenty is selling at a record-low median of 30 days, with the region s annual sales volumes during November at the highest they ve been since 2016.
What does Christmas mean to you?
Is it the moment you see the first snowflake on a cold winter day, seeing gifts under the Christmas tree on Christmas morning, or is it the moment the person you love opens your present?
For many, Christmas can mean a lot of things. But for the children of the Caller-Times Children s Christmas Appeal, it s a day full of hope and new beginnings.
Tiffany Collie, executive director of the Odyssey After School Enrichment Program in Rockport, said Christmas is a season filled with wonder and magic for the children.
The Rockport after school program has been a participating agency for the Children s Christmas Appeal campaign for several years.
