\Donna Lou Ruiz of Weirton, a gracious God Loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. She was 87 years old.
Donna was born in Paden City, WV, on March 1, 1934, one of three children born to Harold and Velma Trader Bowen.
While attending Weir High School, Donna worked at Penn Way Pharmacy in Weirton. While working at the pharmacy, she met Louis “Abe” Ruiz when he stopped in the pharmacy to purchase a pack of gum. It was love at first sight. Donna quit school and married Abe on September 15, 1951.
Three months later, Abe was shipped off to fight in the Korean War.

NEWCOMERSTOWN A community meeting to discuss Main Street, and the promotion of all local businesses, is scheduled for 6 p.m., Monday, April 12, upstairs above the Fit 4-U Gym, 143 W. Main Street. All business owners and community members are invited to attend.
Organizers Kristie Wilkin and Jen LeVigne of Our Village Newcomerstown said many exciting events have been confirmed, including the announcement of proposed improvements to the downtown area and a new landmark. Plans are also complete for a Community Garden.
A First Friday celebration is set for Friday, May 7, as well as another outside Vendor Market on Saturday, May 8. In addition, there will be music both Friday evening and Saturday, a variety of concessions, and much more, including activities for children.

CRYSTAL FALLS Rev. David McCall Liscomb of Crystal Falls, passed away at the age of 88 on April 6, 2021, in Glendale, Ariz. after gallantly battling a long, debilitating illness. David knew “whose he was and where he was going” and passed from this earth with grace and peace to the arms of his Lord.
David was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Romeo, Mich. to Leroy Louis and Ellen Blanche Liscomb and attended schools in Romeo. On Oct. 15, 1955, he married Arlene Steffen of Centerline, Mich. Together, they raised four children. Rev. Liscomb was a charter graduate of Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. where he earned a bachelor of arts degree, and a master of divinity degree from Bexley Hall, the Divinity School of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
