CHICAGO, April 29, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Echo Global Logistics, Inc. (NASDAQ: ECHO), a leading provider of technology-enabled transportation management services, announced today that the company will sponsor Highway to Hope, a virtual benefit concert organized by the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, a nonprofit organization that helps truck drivers and their families when an illness or injury puts them out of work. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go directly to support truckers in need.

WESTLAKE, Ohio TravelCenters of America Inc. honored truck divers Dan Porter of Acton, Ontario, and Don Talley of Muncie, Ind., recently with its eighth annual Citizen Driver awards.
The professional drivers, who were chosen from 85 nominations, have a combined 73 years of hauling freight, with nearly 6 million accident-free miles.
Each driver was given a bronze historical marker with the driver s image and story to be installed on the front of the TA, Petro or TA Express location of his choice. They also get a dedicated ceremony with 30 of their friends and family. Each year, our Citizen Driver Program honors those who go above and beyond in their service to customers and the community. Their commitment to delivering our nation s goods, no matter the weather conditions or circumstances, is what keeps our country moving, TA President Barry Richards said.
Union workers strike at Volvo Trucks plant
The United Auto Workers (UAW) union went on strike Saturday at Volvo Trucks North America s New River Valley (NRV) truck assembly plant, another significant hurdle in truck production that was already facing headwinds from supply chain shortages.
NRV Vice President and General Manager Franky Marchand noted the company was surprised and disappointed that the UAW decided to strike,” adding that progress was being made in negotiations with the union and we had offered substantial increases in our employees’ compensation.
UAW Secretary-Treasurer Ray Curry, Director of the UAW Heavy Truck Department, said the union was disappointed that Volvo Truck has failed to present a substantial offer by the March 16 contract deadline despite a contract extension, adding that more than 2,900 UAW members at NRV are seeking a new agreement that protects their families through job security, adequate wages and benefits and protects their health

Anyone who knows Andersen, California-based owner-operator Howard Salmon also knows that Salmon is diligent about checking in periodically to maintain the relationships he values, whether with a phone call or a simple text or email wishing a Merry Christmas or a Happy New Year. In the modern age, the quality seems increasingly to fall by the wayside as we all hustle and bustle about and so many personal and business relationships take on a purely transactional quality.
