A WARNING has been issued to Southampton residents urging them to enjoy hospitality venues safely and avoid falling into Tier 3. Southampton City Council and business leaders in Southampton have issued guidance for members of the public to enjoy safely the hospitality venues and the retail outlets in the city. Southampton has remained in Tier 2 whilst a number of other local authority areas in Hampshire have moved to the highest Covid Risk category. From 12.01am on Saturday December 18, Portsmouth Gosport and Havant will enter Tier 3. In a joint statement from Southampton City Council, Southampton Chamber of Commerce, GO! Southampton and Westquay Shopping Centre, visitors to the centre of Southampton are encouraged to follow 3 basic steps for a safe visit in the build-up to Christmas and the New Year.

Dec. 19 (UPI) Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has delayed the executions of three death row inmates as the state struggles to obtain the drugs needed as part of its lethal injection protocol.
He issued reprieves for Elwood Jones, Gregory Lott and Archie Dixon on Friday. The delays now mean Ohio doesn t have a scheduled execution until Aug. 11 that of Timothy Hoffner.

Jones April 21 execution date has been pushed back to Dec. 6, 2023; Lott s May 27 date has been pushed to Feb. 15, 2024; and Dixon s June 23 date has been moved to April 17, 2024.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Friday delayed three more death row inmates’ 2021 executions as the state’s unofficial death penalty moratorium continues. The announcement came days after DeWine said lethal injection is no longer an option for the state.
The Republican governor’s warrants of reprieve were issued for condemned prisoners Elwood Jones, Gregory Lott and Archie Dixon.
The reprieves moved Jones’ execution from April 21, 2021, to Dec. 6, 2023; Lott’s from May 27, 2021, to Feb. 15, 2024; and Dixon’s from June 23, 2021, to April 17, 2024.
Jones was sentenced to die for killing 67-year-old Rhoda Nathan in the Embassy Suites Hotel in Blue Ash in 1994. Lott was sentenced to die for killing 82-year-old John McGrath, who died 10 days after Lott set him on fire in East Cleveland during a 1986 break-in. COLUMBUS, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Friday postponed Ohio’s next three scheduled executions, in keeping with his vow to put capital punishment on hold unless lawmakers choose an alternative method to lethal injection.
It’s the 10th time this year that DeWine, a Greene County Republican, has pushed back execution dates due to state’s ongoing problems getting pharmaceutical companies to sell it lethal-injection drugs.
