Victoria’s education industry is reeling after Premier Daniel Andrews and federal Education Minister Alan Tudge warned large numbers of international students would probably not return this year.
Phil Honeywood, chief executive of the International Education Association of Australia, said the comments had shocked Victoria’s biggest export sector.

“It’s not just the $12.5 billion prospective hit to our state’s economy, it’s also an equity issue,” he said.
“Students are stranded overseas having invested tens of thousands of dollars in a world-class education and now face a two-year wait.”
