CARING entrepreneurs from Gourock Primary have raised £150 for school funds. Zara McNab and Lexi Cowdell of P4 sold cakes baked by Lexi s mum outside the Helping Hands community shop in Greenock, where Zara s mum works. Zara said: We wanted to thank the school and our teachers for everything they have done for us and other classes with our learning. Head teacher Christine Murray said: The girls decided to do some fundraising off their own bat outwith school and were going to give it to charity but decided to give it to the school. It was a lovely thing for them to do, such a kind gesture.

A city councillor’s efforts to roll back waste disposal fees failed to make it to the curb during Tuesday’s meeting, dying on the floor when nobody was willing to second his motion.
And Ward 3 Coun. Joe Campbell was clearly unhappy with the lack of support for his efforts to trash the $3 flat fee for residents dropping off garbage at both the Deloro Landfill site and Tisdale Transfer site.

Ben Thorp will be inducted into Sandyford Henderson Memorial Church, Finnieston, during a small in-person service at 7pm today which will also be streamed live online. The 44-year-old, originally from England, said he is “raring to go” in his Church of Scotland community, one of the most international in the city. Council has parked at least temporarily a request from the newly formed Timmins ATV Club to gain access to city streets.
Two members of the club, President Rick Marin and Marc Lapalme, made an in-depth presentation highlighting their organization’s plans during Tuesday’s virtual meeting in hopes of gaining permission similar to that granted to snowmobilers, but the response was clearly not what they had been hoping for from the municipally elected officials.
