Health brigades disinfecting Mexican homes 3 minutes read By Cristina Sanchez Reyes Mexico City, Dec 10 (efe-epa).- Outfitted with a protection suit, gloves, facemask, protective glasses, disinfectants, hand sanitizer and a backpack sprayer weighing more than 30 kilograms (66 pounds) when full of disinfectant, Luis Felipe Gutierrez gets ready to work each day with the home sanitation brigades in Mexico City, after surviving Covid-19 himself. It looks like a long day, since today’s schedule includes sanitizing between four and seven homes in the Xochimilco district, located in the southern part of Greater Mexico City. Most of those homes are being sanitized because people living there had Covid, and some of them did not survive.

Anguish rises as Mexico City hospitals fill up with Covid-19 patients

Anguish rises as Mexico City hospitals fill up with Covid-19 patients 2 minutes read By Cristina Sanchez Reyes Mexico City, Dec 15 (efe-epa).- Hospitals treating Covid-19 patients in Mexico’s capital are being pushed to the limits of their capacity, a state of affairs that is forcing some people to scramble to find an available bed for their loved ones. That was the experience of Virginia Mariela, who recently spent six hours searching for a hospital that would admit her sister. “It was horrible. We visited like seven hospitals,” she told Efe on Tuesday. Only after trying a second time at Parque de los Venados General Hospital was she successful in getting medical care for her sibling, who was having difficulty breathing.
