This weekend s Christie s Hong Kong evening sale has been billed as Asia’s watch auction of the decade. Composed of just 18 lots and starting at 7:00 PM HK time on May 22nd, Legends of Time brings together an assortment of impressive Patek Philippe lots and other historic pieces, showcasing some truly breathtaking craftsmanship. For those looking to get into the action a bit earlier, there will also be a day sale comprising 147 lots beginning at 2:00 PM Hong Kong time the same day.
Christie’s New York sets the bar high for New York marquee auction week. Earlier tonight, the 21st Century Evening Sale raked in a total of US$210m and was spearheaded by the highest-grossing American artist Basquiat’s skull painting, which realized US$93m to become the artist’s second highest auction record.

After years of rising prices and intensifying demand, the market for the beloved artist is now at a fever pitch.
This week, both Christie’s and Sotheby’s will feature major works by the sought-after Haitian-American artist, who died at 27 in 1988.

In This Case (1983), a large skull on a red background, with an unpublished estimate of about $50 million. It was reportedly consigned by fashion designer and cofounder of Valentino, Giancarlo Giammetti.
Meanwhile,
Versus Medici (1982) will be part of Sotheby’s sale, where it is estimated to bring in between $35 million to $50 million.

will be offered for sale at Christieâs in London as a highlight lot in the Exceptional Sale, taking place live on July 8. This penetrating study of a bearâs head, one of less than eight surviving drawings by Leonardo still in private hands outside of the British Royal Collection and the Devonshire Collections at Chatsworth, measuring 2 ¾ x 2 ¾ inches (7 x 7 cm), it is executed in silverpoint on a pale pink-beige prepared paper, a technique which Leonardo was taught by his master Andrea del Verrocchio. The drawing will be on public exhibition at Christieâs in Rockefeller Center in New York from Saturday May 8 and then move on to be shown at Christieâs Hong Kong from M
