Lurie Gallery-Park City, operated by Scot Lurie, opened two months ago at 6622 N. Landmark Drive, at the Canyon Corners shopping center in Kimball Junction, and represents emerging and mid-career artists who specialize in cutting-edge pop art, street art and abstract minimalism.

His product, MountainFlow Eco Wax, was recently featured on “Shark Tank.” (Special to the Daily) Peter Arlein had the sharks chomping at the bit on last Friday night’s episode of ABC’s “Shark Tank.” , an eco-friendly and biodegradable wax for skis and snowboards, the Carbondale skier walked away with a six-figure deal including two investors. “I thought they did a great job,” Arlein said after the airing, which he watched for the first time himself along with other viewers. “Every section of it was engaging, and I didn’t look like a dummy, which they could have made me look like if they wanted to.”

Summit County reports 151 cases over the week

Summit County reported 151 new cases and one hospitalization due to the novel coronavirus in the past week, according to the county’s coronavirus webpage. A total of 2,611 Summit County residents have gotten the virus since the beginning of the pandemic and 69 residents have been hospitalized since March 5. Despite an overall decrease in incidence rate statewide, Summit County numbers have been increasing, along with the rest of the resort region. As of Friday, Jan. 29, the county’s two-week cumulative incidence rate was at 842.4 new cases per 100,000 people, up 42.4 from last week. The number remains in level red on the state’s COVID-19 dial. For that metric to be in level orange, the incidence rate would need to be below 350 new cases per 100,000 people.

Friends of Dillon Ranger District begins virtual backcountry film festival Thursday

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District is hosting the 16th annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival, which features 12 short films based on human-powered experiences in the backcountry. The virtual festival begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, and those who purchase tickets will be able to watch through 11 p.m. Jan. 14. Tickets are $20 for an individual and $40 for a household. There also will be an online auction running for the duration of the festival with items donated by Christy Sports, Wilderness Sports, Gore Range Sports, the Frisco Nordic Center and Weston Backcountry. The festival’s ticket and auction proceeds benefit the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District nonprofit organization.
