WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) An area art teacher is charged with sexual misconduct involving a student.
WAOW TV is reporting that Christy Mathis, a teacher in the Mosinee School District, could be facing charges of sexual assault of a student by school staff. That’s according to the Wausau Police Department’s public information portal.
A statement from Mosinee PD says Mathis is being investigated for having “inappropriate contact with a female student.” Further details have not been released. She was taken into custody on Monday, and was scheduled for an appearance in Marathon County court on Tuesday afternoon.

CARBONDALE, Ill. Southern Illinois University Carbondale will celebrate the diversity and inclusiveness that is intrinsic to the campus and represented throughout the region during International Festival 2021 next week.
“Celebrating Diversity: Together and Stronger” is the theme for the festival Monday through Friday, April 5-9, featuring a mixture of live and virtual events. All of the events are free and open to the public.
“Though International Festival may look and feel different this year, the virtual events planned and organized by the International Student Council will allow the entire world to join our celebration,” said Andrew D. CARBONDALE, Ill. Summer camps for children are returning to Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center in 2021 with an expanded lineup for younger kids.
The experiential learning center is offering a dozen summer camp opportunities for children ages 4 to 13, giving them a chance to explore the wide world of nature in a fun and safe way. After a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the camps return with enhanced safety and social distancing measures in compliance with state and SIU guidelines, including group size limitations.
