STOCKTON, Calif. Chris Lambert s podcast Your Own Backyard, which re-examined the disappearance of Kristin Smart during a time when many in the public had written-off the case, is topping the Apple Podcasts charts roughly half a year after the last episode aired.
The series first episode aired in September 2019 for a total of six episodes released once a week until mid-November 2019. Then, two follow-up episodes aired in January 2020 and November 2020.

Chris Lambert, the host of the
Your Own Backyard podcast was credited by San Luis Obispo County Sheriff Ian Parkinson as he announced arrests in the case, according to a report by Associated Press.
Sheriff Parkinson added that Lambert helped draw worldwide attention to the case, and brought forward valuable witnesses.

Paul Flores pleaded not guilty to the murder and attempted rape of 19-year-old Cal Poly student Kristin Smart Monday after being arrested and charged with the 1996 crimes last week. His father, Ruben Flores, pleaded not guilty to being an accessory after the fact to the crime.
Paul Flores was not granted bail, with Judge Craig B. Van Rooyen saying that his release could result in “great bodily harm” to the public. The elder Flores will be released on a bail that he can afford. That amount will be determined at a later hearing, along with conditions of release.

Community holds vigil for Kristin Smart and family in Paso Robles

Community members organized a vigil Saturday night for Kristin Smart and her family at Downtown City Park in Paso Robles.
Speakers included Chris Lambert, the creator of the Your Own Backyard podcast, a family friend of the Smart family, and the administrators for the Find Kristin Smart Facebook page.
More than a hundred people gathered, many of them families, to share their connection with the Smart case. I m a mom and a girl disappeared in our community; I think [every parent] and everybody should be involved, attendee Marie Inman said.
