FOREST, Va. – Wow, what a shot!
The Capen Family in Forest sent Chris Michaels this footage from their home security camera showing a fireball in the sky.
A number of reports came into the American Meteor Society on Monday morning across Virginia.

Another Florida cold snap, another falling iguana alert.
The National Weather Service in Miami on Monday issued an unofficial warning for possible falling iguanas later this week, due to a cold snap that s forecast to chill the Sunshine State by Christmas Day. Brrr! the Weather Service tweeted. Much colder temps expected for Christmas. Low temperatures in the 30s/40s and falling iguanas are possible. Keep up with forecast changes and stay warm!
With highs forecast to top out in the low 60s in Miami, it could be the coldest Christmas in South Florida since 1999.

Happy Monday! We here at Your Local Weather Authority truly enjoy telling you about all the happenings in the night sky. You probably already know about the “Christmas star,” which we’ve talked about in great detail. I’m going to use the space of this newsletter to tell you about another celestial event: the Ursid meteor shower. If you haven’t heard of it, that’s not surprising as it is a relatively new phenomenon. While many meteor showers like the Geminids and Perseids have been viewed for centuries, the Ursids were first documented in the 1900s.

Road impacts Thursday morning
ROANOKE, Va. – Following Wednesday’s combination of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow, parts of the area are under a Freezing Fog Advisory. This could lead to additional icy spots on roads, bridges, overpasses, handrails, etc.
A Freezing Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. for most areas south of U.S. 460. This is exactly as it sounds.
