HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The Hattiesburg Parks and Recreation Department has open registration for its summer day camp.
Last year, the camp had to be postponed due to COVID.
This year, the camp will open up with limited spots available and will abide by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
“We will incorporate our arts aspect, but we just want to make it fun for the kids,” said Parks and Recreation director Chris McGee.

A state audit finds the Louisiana Workforce Commission paid out six-point-two million dollars in unemployment benefits to nearly 12-hundred prisoners. Data Analytics Manager for the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s Office, Chris Magee, says it’s a conservative number since they only looked at unemployment applications for the first half of 2020.
“This really shows that there is an issue with this process but doesn’t fully capture the magnitude of the issue.”
Magee says L-W-C has told them the problem is with a vendor that multiple states use that tracks incarceration data…
“According to LWC and the vendor basically the data match was not working as intended during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Officers on patrol in Burnley came across this silver car on Friday morning. The vehicle caught the eye of the police on Kime Street in the town, after officers noted that the car had cloned registration plates. Upon inspection and further investigation the vehicle was seized. PC Chris Mckee for Burnley police said: This vehicle has been seized on Kime Street after officers recognised that the car was bearing cloned registration plates. One more off the roads that would have more than likely been up to no good.
