THE Northern Farmer Awards 2021 will take place – virtually – tonight, and it couldn t be more straightforward to see the ceremony take place. Simply log onto the website nfawards.sparq.me.uk at 7pm to watch the awards, which will be presented live by host Wendy Gibson. The evening s entertainment will include a number of special guests, and you can get involved on social media, using the hashtag #northernfarmerawards. This will be the eighth staging of the awards, which celebrate excellence in all sectors of agriculture across the North of England. There are nine categories, with awards being offered to the Farm Manager of the Year, Sheep Farmer of the Year, Beef Farmer of the Year, Dairy Farmer of the Year, Arable Farmer of the Year, Family-Run Farm of the Year, Outstanding Achievement, Diversification of the Year, and Young Farmer of the Year.

Fans of Cottesloe s beach exhibition Sculpture by the Sea might not realise it faces a never-ending, nail-biting struggle for funding, preparing each year’s event on faith that enough donations will be pledged by the eleventh hour.
