The former Christ Reformed Church at 12th Avenue and 15th Street will be demolished soon to create a parking lot for Curry Realty, city Director of Codes and Inspections Rebecca Brown told the Altoona Planning Commission this week.
Curry is renovating the former Vipond building nearby to create a headquarters for its operations, now based in Morrisons Cove, along with leased space for Saint Francis University engineering and business programing and a financial tenant.
Curry submitted a land development application for the parking lot on the church property Monday, Brown said.
The building, which is near the city’s police station, should be demolished within the next few weeks, she said.
