Hajiji: Sabahans made right choice in voting GRS to maintain good relations with Federal Govt

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans have made the right choice in supporting Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) that has built good relations with the Perikatan Nasional-led Federal Government, says Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. The Chief Minister added the GRS victory in the 16th state election has paved the way for understanding and creation of stronger cooperation between the state government and Federal Government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Speaking to mark the one year anniversary of “Malaysia Prihatin” in Tawau on Monday (March 1), Hajiji expressed his gratitude on behalf of Sabah to the Federal Government and the Prime Minister for his concern for the state.

Warisan reps laugh off talk they will be next to quit party

KOTA KINABALU: Five of six Parti Warisan Sabah assemblymen rumoured to be crossing over to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) have laughed off the speculation triggered by a post on the Sabahkini2 website. Four of them - Assaffal Alian (Tungku), Mohammad Mohamarin (Banggi), Ben Chong (Tg Kapor) and Norazlina Arin (Kunak) - took to Facebook to deny the rumours and scoff at the claims. Most of them joked about the suggestion that they were crossing over to the ruling coalition but also hit out at the portal which published their names and photographs and claimed they would be the next set of assemblymen to quit.

No formal talks yet in GRS on Sabah seat sharing: Lajim Ukin

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) parties have yet to hold formal discussions on seat distribution in the state for the next general election, says Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia strategic and election director Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin. However, he gave an assurance that there would not be any conflicts among GRS partners despite Umno’s recent statement on its desire to contest in at least 14 out of the 25 parliamentary seats available. Any party could make an estimate of the seats it wishes to contest, he said on Monday (Feb 22). Anyone can come up with a target, we in Bersatu could also say we target 10 or more seats, but be reminded that in GRS, we have other partners like STAR, SAPP, PBS and Umno/Barisan Nasional.

KOTA KINABALU: Some Gabungan Rakyat Sabah parties are unfazed by demands from Sabah Umno to contest 14 of the 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah in an upcoming general election. Two leaders - Bersatu vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee and Sabah STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan - said that parties were free to announce their intentions but at the end of the day, it will still be discussed. Kiandee said it was normal for parties to make their intentions known but such issues of seat sharing are discussed at a roundtable for a decision on the best party and candidate to be fielded.
