BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Defending champion Steve Stricker made a long eagle putt on the final hole for 7-under 65 and the third-round lead Saturday in the Regions Tradition, the first of five PGA Tour Champions majors.
Stricker moved a stroke ahead of Alex Cejka with the eagle that got him to 14-under 202 at Greystone Golf & Country Club. Cejka, who made the field as the first alternate Monday, bogeyed the 17th in a 66.

They’re noticeable to spectators in person and to viewers on TV: the unique 3D Regions Tradition tee markers in the shape of the bank’s iconic bike brand.
Forrest Satterfield created them in 2015 because, well, someone asked if it was possible. That’s what Satterfield likes to do – take the ordinary and make it extraordinary.
“When the Bruno Event Team (which coordinates the Tradition) first reached out to me, I’d just received my first funding from an investor – $25,000,” Satterfield said. “I had one 3D printer, one scanner, and I was running everything out of my apartment. I was terrified. I didn’t know how I was going to pay the rent.”

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Defending champion Steve Stricker birdied the final hole Friday for a 3-under 69 to move into a four-way tie for the lead halfway through the Regions Tradition, while Canada s Stephen Ames is one stroke back.
Stricker joined Madison, Wisconsin, neighbour Jerry Kelly, Monday qualifier Alex Cejka and first-round leader Darren Clarke atop the leaderboard in the first of the PGA Tour Champions five majors.
Cejka, who made the field as the first alternate when Jay Haas withdrew, followed his opening 68 with a 69 at Greystone Golf & Country Club. Kelly had a 70 and Clarke shot 71 to get to 7 under.
