Family of pensioner left disturbed after care home nurse failed to phone ambulance for dying man THE FAMILY of a man residing in a care home has been left disturbed after a nurse in charge failed to call him an ambulance in a time of medical emergency. Brian Murphy, who was caring for the pensioner at Avonbridge Care Home in Hamilton, also failed to flush the pensioner s catheter when it was due to be cleaned. The resident had recently returned to the care home from hospital after being treated for urine sepsis. After being discharged, he took unwell throughout the night and stopped breathing. A decision was made to transfer the resident from his chair and into a wheelchair so that he could be conveyed to a bed.
Weekly Covid deaths in Scotland total 23 as restrictions ease
CORONAVIRUS deaths in Scotland have fallen slightly once again, according to the latest figures. A total of 23 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded between April 19 and 25 - which is down by one from the previous week. It brings the total number of Covid deahts in Scotland to 10,078. Of the deaths recorded this week, 18 occurred in hospital, three in care homes and two at home or in a non-institutional setting. Seven were in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area, four were in Lanarkshire, three occurred in both Lothian and Tayside, there were two deaths in Ayrshire & Arran and in Grampian, and a single death was recorded in both Fife and the Forth Valley.
