PORTSMOUTH - Rain or shine, helping hands are needed for the return of Operation Blessing’s “One Day to Serve” event next month.
Cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19, One Day to Serve tasks community members with cleaning and beautifying Portsmouth Housing Authority properties.
Operation Blessing Executive Director Tammy Josyln said that this year’s event, taking place on Saturday, May 22, will be the 13th in its history.
“It’s been really cool to watch it evolve the way it has,” she said.
All 10 PHA properties, along with the Betty’s Dream Foundation on Longmeadow Lane, will have a team of volunteers working on their property. With all equipment provided by the PHA and Operation Blessing, volunteers will be charged with raking, picking up trash, spreading mulch and loam, painting and washing windows, among other needed services.
