EVEREST CHALLENGE REVEREND Craig Bentley has raised £6,500 through the St Mark’s Church’s Mount Everest challenge. Rev Bentley has raised thousands of pounds through an online JustGiving page by ascending the Church s tower 500 times. A curate at St Mark’s in Natland, and a former RAF police dog handler, Rev Bentley took on the challenge to support the work of the church and the International Nepal Fellowship. CRAZY: Reverend Craig Bentley completes the Natland Mount Everest challenge His two previous attempts were temporarily blocked by the lockdown, but the challenge finally went ahead on April 25. During the climb he has been interviewed live on Radio Cumbria breakfast and had a five-minute piece on Border evening local news show.

Tributes for loving family man from Darwen who died at 54

Craig Bentley Tributes have poured in for Craig Bentley of Darwen, who died at East Lancashire Hospice on January 26 at the age of 54. Craig was a beloved husband to Linda for 26 years, a loving dad to Scott, 25, and a treasured son to Mavis and the late Jim. He was also a much-loved brother to Anne and a dear brother-in-law to her late husband Barry, who sadly passed away recently. Born and bred in Darwen, Craig was a joiner by trade, and worked at Forrest Joinery and Construction Contracts in Blackburn for 20 years. A perfectionist who took a great pride in his work, he quickly climbed the ladder to become site manager.
