ADRIAN Lenawee County officials warned Friday afternoon that the current COVID-19 surge is as bad as previous surges and hospitalizations are growing.
The current surge in new cases is similar to that seen during the winter months. According to a news release from the county government, if COVID-19 spread continues in our community at its current rate, it is projected that by the end of April, we will surpass the number of new COVID-19 cases seen during previous surges.
The positivity rate for tests is at 16.4%, which is the highest rate seen since the beginning of the pandemic, the release said. Fifty percent of patients at ProMedica Hickman Hospital are positive for COVID-19 and the critical care unit 89% full.
