Iceland, based on St Thomas Street, will be closing on September 4, with a large sign placed in the front window confirming the news. It reads: “Sorry! This store is closing on Saturday, September 4. “Your nearest Iceland is Weymouth Food Warehouse.” Prior to the sign being pleased inside the store’s window, staff had confirmed the news to customers. Factories have been hit by staff shortages It s not just Weymouth, it s everywhere. We ve got clients where office staff are working on the shop floor, it s that bad. A lot of our roles are not on a bus route which also does not help - you cannot get a direct bus from Weymouth to Bridport unless it’s the X53. Weymouth business prepare for lifting lockdown restrictions

BUSINESS owners have welcomed the amazing news that all coronavirus restrictions are scheduled to be lifted from July 19. In a press conference on Monday afternoon, the Prime Minister confirmed that all remaining businesses will be able to reopen, including nightclubs, and that limits on social contact and the legal requirement to wear face coverings will end. The announcement has been welcomed by business owners in Weymouth, many of whom have had to adapt their businesses to the restrictions which have been in place for more than 15 months. Nightclubs have been one of the few businesses which have been unable to reopen since they were closed when the country was plunged into the first lockdown in March 2020. Actors nightclub in Weymouth town centre reopened in May, but was forced to cover the dance floor in tables and chairs and introduce table service.
