The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has established a new
Covid Care Centre in GKVK campus in Yelahanka Zone with 380 beds of which 50 are oxygenated. The facility also has two ambulances for attending to emergencies. Officials said asymptomatic and those with mild to moderate symptoms can walk into these centres too.
Congress leaders call for judicial probe
Terming the problems that have cropped up in bed allocation system in Bengaluru City a ‘BJP bed scam’, Karnataka Congress leaders on Saturday demanded a judicial probe into it. They said that the ‘exposé’ by BJP Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and party MLAs Satish Reddy, Ravi Subramanya and Uday Garudachar was fake.
Senior Congress MLAs Ramalinga Reddy, Krishna Byre Gowda and Dinesh Gundu Rao alleged that loyalists of the BJP MP and legislators had interfered in the functioning of the bed allocation system of the BBMP COVID-19 war room and diverted beds to asymptomatic patients and denied beds to patients having severe symptoms.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 7 (ANI): Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday hit out at the Centre for challenging the High Court s order to supply 1,200 tonnes of oxygen per day to the state in the Supreme Court, saying that despite being an oxygen-producing state, it was not getting its share. The Central government has challenged the High Court s order to supply 1,200 tonnes of oxygen per day to Karnataka in the Supreme Court. It argued that if the supply of oxygen to Karnataka increases, the health system will collapse, he said in a series of tweets.

The Opposition Congress took the government to task on Saturday over the confusion on vaccination for 18-44 age group, with Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa and Health Minister K. Sudhakar making contradictory statements on when vaccines will be available to all in this category.
One Congress MLA and former Minister took to Twitter to ask who people should believe between the Chief Minister and Health Minister. “The Chief Minister says there is enough stock but the Health Minister says there isn’t. This is leaving people confused. Who is lying between the two,” he asked.
