The Supreme Court has ordered the medical examination of Andhra Pradesh MP Raghuram Krishnam Raju, who had filed a petition alleging that he was assaulted by the state s Criminal Investigation Department. The Narsapuram MP was arrested last week by the Andhra Pradesh Criminal Investigation Department for alleged sedition.

GUNTUR: The Medical Board which was constituted by the Andhra Pradesh High Court to examine the injuries on rebel YSRCP MP K Raghu Rama Krishnam Raju concluded that there were no injuries on him and that the MP from Narasapuram was in good health. The rebel MP alleged that the CID sleuths had tortured him while he was in custody.
After the report was submitted to the High Court, the MP was shifted to Guntur district jail by CID police on Sunday. Prison officials assigned him the number 3468 and he was kept in a cell in the old barracks of the prison as per reports. The Guntur CID court has remanded the MP to judicial custody in the case till May 28.

NEW DELHI: YSRCP rebel MP K Raghurama Krishnam Raju who is fighting tooth and nail to avoid jail, moved the Supreme Court for bail against the Andhra Pradesh High Court orders which refused to grant him bail after he was arrested on Sedition charges by the AP CID on Friday.
The Court on Monday while hearing his special leave petition allowed the medical examination of the MP to be conducted at the Army Hospital at Secunderabad in Telangana and stated that the expenses of the treatment must be borne by the MP himself.
A division bench of the SC comprising Justice Vineet Saran and Justice BR Gavai while passing the orders directed the officials to take him to the Army Hospital, Secunderabad, for examination and the same would be treated as judicial custody. A judicial officer who will be with the petitioner during the examination should be nominated by the Telangana High Court, it said in its order.
