BJP MLA Girish Gautam was unanimously elected as Speaker of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on the first day of the state budget session on Monday.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan moved a proposal in the House to elect Gautam as the Assembly s Speaker.
The proposal was seconded by Home Minister Narottam Mishra, Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang and Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel, besides other members from the treasury benches and Leader of the Opposition Kamal Nath.
The budget session of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly commenced on Monday where Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Girish Gautam was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Assembly. Gautam had filed his nomination for the Speaker s post .

Bhopal: Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath on Monday said he pitied Governor Anandiben Patel after her address to the Assembly, saying she had to deliver such a speech that is for the media, not for the state . He said that the real situation of farmers and labourers and about atrocities on women was not stated.
