EPA report finds agriculture remains small part of emissions pie

What does NI s Climate Change Bill actually mean for farming?

Nitrogen trifluoride (NF3). As it is not a Greenhouse Gas, ammonia (NH3) is not listed. However, the legislation makes provisions for other gas levels not listed to be monitored too, making it likely targets could also be put in place on ammonia emissions. Targets will also be set for nitrogen-use efficiency, meaning further scrutiny of farm fertiliser use is almost inevitable. The nitrogen budget will take into account all major flows of nitrogen in Northern Ireland; e.g. in its waters, atmosphere, and soil. It will set annual targets to improve nitrogen efficiency, which it defines as the ratio of nitrogen removed from the environment compared to the total nitrogen added to the environment.

Is San Antonio On Track To Achieve The Goal Of Carbon Neutrality By 2050?

Numbers out this month show San Antonio s total community emissions declined only 0.2% from 2016-2019 a 4% decrease per city resident. The Greenhouse Gas Inventory aims to track emissions of greenhouse gases that are related to climate change. Officials say progress was hampered by an increase of emissions attributable to the municipality s 4% population growth which meant more people in energy-consuming buildings and more vehicles on the roads despite the closure of CPS Energy s J.T. Deely coal plant in 2018.

Irish farm trials to investigate how seaweed could lower livestock emissions

April 20, 2021, 12:30 pm Northern Ireland’s first farm trials into the potential of seaweed to reduce emissions in dairy herds are set to begin in October, Agriland can reveal. The study will examine the effect of seaweed on rumen fermentation and whether its inclusion can suppress methane emissions as a byproduct. A project investigating the effects of feeding seaweed to sheep is also set to begin in the Republic next month. It’s part of the €2 million Seasolution project led by Teagasc and carried out in collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI), the Institute of Technology Sligo, as well as institutions in Norway, Sweden, Germany and Canada.
