Prosecutor’s investigator sworn in to task force

XENIA Greene County Prosecutor’s Office Investigator Fred E. Meadows was sworn in as a member of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) Task Force Thursday.
SOFAST is a multi-jurisdictional U.S. Marshals Service-led task force consisting of local, state, and federal authorities which seeks fugitives from justice with active, violent felony warrants.
“Protecting the citizens of Greene County is the number one priority of this office,” Greene County Prosecutor David D. Hayes said. “Membership with this task force helps make that happen by combining federal and state resources to track down and apprehend the most dangerous fugitives.”

A Springfield man who allegedly claimed to have amnesia when police questioned him has been found guilty of sex crimes involving three different child victims.
David M. King, 51, was found guilty Friday of multiple counts of statutory sodomy and child molestation after a bench trial in front of Greene County Judge Calvin Holden.
Holden, who noted that the three victims were very believable in their testimony, will be the one to sentence King at a hearing scheduled for July. King faces the possibility of multiple life sentences.
The sex crimes for which King was convicted occurred in 1998 and 2018. The charges include King sexually assaulting a teenager and a 3-year-old child.
A Strafford man is facing 21 felony charges for allegedly sexually abusing a child for multiple years.
Duane Shaw, 70, was charged Friday with multiple counts of child molestation, statutory sodomy and attempted enticement of a child.
According to court documents, Greene County Sheriff s Office deputies started investigating Shaw after a woman came forward to report that Shaw had sexually abused her beginning when she was about 5 years old up until she was 13.
Court documents say that after the woman came to law enforcement with the allegations, detectives had her call Shaw while they secretly recorded.
During the conversation, Shaw allegedly apologized and made statements that seemingly acknowledged he had molested the woman when she was younger, according to court documents.

Springfield Police say a man arrested for a deadly shooting at a home on North Kellett will not be charged.
Ryan L. King, 47, from Springfield was found dead after a 911 call Thursday afternoon.
Police arrested a suspect on second-degree murder charges.
But after the case was reviewed by the Greene County Prosecutor, police say there will be no criminal charges filed at this time.
KTTS News has not released the man’s name or photo because charges have not been filed.
Detectives are still investigating.
