A man has been jailed after a violent assault in Manchester city centre in June.
James Byrne (aged 33), of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square) to 20 months in jail after previously pleading guilty to section 20 assault.
The court was told that on the evening of Sunday, June 21, 2020, Byrne was walking in a group with the victim and other men and women down Back Piccadilly near to Lever Street.
CCTV operators became privy to a confrontation between Byrne and the victim which then developed into Byrne swinging his right arm at the victim before then repeatedly punching and kicking him.
