Sean O’Malley put on a boxing clinic against late replacement Kris Moutinho at UFC 264 this past Saturday and, although he didn’t get the one-shot knockout he was looking for, ‘Suga’ believes the third-round TKO victory was enough to secure a spot among the UFC bantamweight elite.
O’Malley, 26, has shortened his list of potential opponents down to just one man as the rising star called out top-three bantamweight Rob Font in his post-fight interview at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 264: Poirier vs McGregor 3 took place on Saturday night in front of 20,000 fans at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and a global audience of PPV viewers. The fight was attended by several celebrities including singer Sia, actor Miles Teller, and former President Donald Trump.
O Malley (14-1) was initially scheduled to face Louis Smolka at UFC 264. But Smolka was forced to pull out of the event due to injury in late June. On short notice, UFC newcomer Moutinho (9-5) from New England came in as the replacement. After previously knocking out Thomas Almeida at UFC 260 in March, O Malley stepped into the Octagon as the betting odds favorite.
UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley has suggested he could make the move up to the featherweight division in the next couple of years.
O’Malley’s comment came after he recorded his sixth victory since debuting for the UFC in 2017. Against short-notice opponent Kris Moutinho at UFC 264, “Suga” landed 230 significant strikes across the duration of the fight, the fourth highest in UFC history behind only Nate Diaz‘s win against Donald Cerrone and Max Holloway‘s victories over Brian Ortega and Calvin Kattar.
Despite an incredible display of grit, resilience, and pressure, O’Malley finally stopped Moutinho with less than a minute of the final round remaining.
