In blow to NRA, federal judge dismisses group’s bankruptcy case
The judge ruled that the powerful gun lobby declared bankruptcy in an attempt to avoid facing a New York state lawsuit that accuses the organization of fraud and seeks to disband it.

Advocates for gun violence prevention rejoiced Tuesday when a federal judge dismissed the National Rifle Association’s bankruptcy case,
ruling that the powerful gun lobby declared bankruptcy in an attempt to
avoid facing a New York state lawsuit that accuses the organization of
fraud and seeks to disband it.

Sentencing was delayed for two people who admitted burglarizing a half-dozen vehicles last May at trailheads in Lake Tahoe and Jacks Valley.
Harvis Berry, 35, appeared remotely in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday from a hospital bed where he was being treated.
District Judge Tod Young said it was clear that Berry’s sentencing hearing had to be delayed and set a May 18 hearing. Berry is facing charges of principal to burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Carolyn Maxine Brinkman, 33, was also in Douglas County District Court on Tuesday, but her sentencing was delayed until May 25.

WASHINGTON â The Justice Department proposed a rule on Friday that would expand the definition of a firearm and help close a loophole that has allowed people to buy so-called ghost guns, firearms that are easily assembled from kits but are not regulated by federal gun laws.
