The city will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on May 3rd.
The project has been years in the making. The completion of the new well field will close out nearly a decade-long chapter in Cadillacâs history aimed at improving its local water supply infrastructure, the city noted in a press release on April 27.
The first phase of the project started in 2012 with the well field off Crosby Road, where the city built three wells and associated service buildings.
The groundbreaking ceremony will mark the beginning of the second phase, valued at $10 million. This second phase of construction at the 44 Road site will include three water wells, new service and operational buildings, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) upgrades, the city said.
CADILLAC â During the next few weeks, residents around the Cadillac area will notice multiple bridge projects.
On Monday, the bridge over U.S. 131 on Crosby Road â near the new Wexford County Jail â was down to one lane as Michigan Department of Transporation crews did routine maintenance on the structure. This work included cleaning and resealing the expansion joints and deck patching, according to MDOT Cheif Bridge Construction Engineer Rick Liptak.
Liptak said while this type of work takes several days and includes removal, prep and recast with new concrete, there also will be shorter daytime projects across the area for the next few weeks. Once done those smaller projects are completed, Liptak said crews will move on to another bridge.

CADILLAC â We re about to get another roundabout.
In a $23.1 million proposed budget for FY 2022, the city s plan to build a roundabout at M-55 and Crosby Road is one of the more notable expenditures. Roads are a more than $2 million expense in this proposed budget; that s a lot more than usual, according to Finance Director Owen Roberts, and comes on the heels of Cadillac issuing road bonds last summer.
In addition to the roundabout, the city will also undertake road construction projects on West Division, Lester and Ayers, among others; more are possible if funds are available after contractors bid for and complete the projects.
