Two people have been injured following a suspected shooting near a college in Crawley today with armed officers and snipers swooping on the scene.
One man was arrested by officers at Crawley College in West Sussex this afternoon, as they responded to reports of gunshot fire .
The college was evacuated and two people have suffered injuries which are not believed to be serious. A large police presence is in place outside the college and the public is being urged to stay away.
Footage on social media showed a large number of armed officers at the scene on College Road, a dual carriageway with railings separating the road from the college.
A KNIFE and a gun loaded with blanks are understood to have been used during an incident near a college - and police say the search remains ongoing . Gunshots were heard outside Crawley College with armed police dispatched to the scene as staff and students were evacuated. Two people have been injured and The Argus has been told that a teacher is among the victims. Police have now confirmed that the pair are being treated for minor injuries and that these are not gunshot wounds . One man has been detained. However armed police remain on the scene and members of the public have been told to avoid the area.
