Grammy-nominated Ghanaian musician Rocky Dawuni has urged colleague artistes to stay true to their sound and authenticity when it comes to music if they want to get nominated for the Grammys.
Speaking on Drive Time on Joy, the award-winning musician said his Branches of the Same Tree album that got him the nod in 2015 defied genres gaining the attention of the Recording Academy voters.
“I created a blueprint of an album which fused highlife gospel Reggae music and great songwriting which is really always the key,” he said.
According to him, the Grammy Recording Academy voters were attracted by his dynamics and how different the album sounded from the numerous ones submitted.

The pandemic certainly hit DJs, such as Chicago resident Sollors.
So, he quickly transitioned to being resourceful, adapting to the unexpected situation, focusing on behind-the-scenes work. He has since been in the studio pumping out a ton of music, collaborating with a variety of artists and he recently launched his own record label project, Sollors Systems, which certainly has a load of moving parts to keep him busy.
BURNA BOY:
Grammy Academy official, Richardine Bartee has hinted that she may well cast her vote for Burna Boy’s album titled ‘African Giant’ in the forthcoming 2021 musical awards.
Bartee who made the admission on Saturday during an Instagram interview said that the fact that Burna Boy’a song ‘Destiny’ made the list of 46 songs played at the inauguration of President Joe Biden of the United States of America last Wednesday, makes him a contender for a Grammy award this year.
According to Bartee who is eligible to vote in the arduous process, having a song as part of the playlist selected for the US president’s inauguration may put the Nigerian in pole position for the coveted award.
