Sapling adoption takes root in Adharwadi

As part of plantation drive, locals from the hamlet name plants after their children, hope to pass on nurturing duties to offsprings
At a time when deforestation is wreaking havoc globally, locals from
Adharwadi, a tiny hamlet in
Mulshi, have undertaken the task of planting saplings. To elevate the drive to the next level, the saplings are being tagged with nameplates showcasing the names of the offsprings of those who are taking part in the programme in a bid to indicate that the plants will be nurtured as their children.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday sought response from the Maharashtra government on a plea claiming that tigress Avni, shot dead by a civilian hunter at Ralegaon in November 2018, was not a man-eater.
The top court also demanded answers on the aspect of the reward given for killing of the animal.
A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde and comprising Justices A.S. Bopanna and V.Ramasubramanian decided to examine a plea by activist Sangeeta Dogra and asked her to prove her claim that human remains were not found in the animal s autopsy.
