KOTA KINABALU: The seven people who were arrested for demonstrating outside Kg Muhibbah in Tawau will be remanded until Monday (April 26).
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali said they are under investigation for offences under the Emergency Ordinance (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases 2021), the Peaceful Assembly Act, and for disobeying instructions to disperse.
In the 3.30pm demonstration on Saturday (April 24), the seven were seen holding placards protesting, among other things, the extension of the enhanced movement control order on Kg Muhibbah.
Among their reasons for demonstrating was to get the authorities to reconsider the extension because the villagers there reportedly have no means to get daily necessities.
