Felony charges filed in fatal Granite City crash July 7, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail Beasley GRANITE CITY A Granite City man is facing two felonies in connection to a Monday evening accident that killed a woman in her home. On Monday, the Granite City Police Department responded at 10:52 p.m. to the 1900 block of Joy Ave where a vehicle had struck a residence and killed Virginia Ann Ohren, 73, of Granite City, according to Maj. Nick Novacich of the Granite City Police. Officers responding to the area found a vehicle had struck the residence and located the vehicle’s driver, Jonathan M. Beasley, 47, of Granite City, who was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Sedarius D. Miles, 26, of Dallas, was charged July 6 with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 3 felony, and aggravated unlawful use of weapons and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, both Class 4 felonies. According to court documents, on July 3 Miles allegedly was found to be in possession of a loaded and accessible 9 mm Smith & Wesson. It was noted Miles has a felony conviction for assault of a family out of Tarrant County, Texas in 2017, making him ineligible to possess weapons.
