After following car for 50 miles, N.H. man arrested in Braintree hit-and-run Andrew Stanton A New Hampshire man was arrested in Braintree early Tuesday morning for allegedly striking a man with his vehicle and fleeing the scene after following him for about 50 miles and trying to enter his vehicle, officials said.
Matthew Simonson, 36, of Greenville, was arrested near the Dave and Buster’s at South Shore Plaza at about 3:30 a.m. after a driver alerted anofficer who was on patrol of the hit-and-run, Braintree police said in a statement.
While searching the area, the officer found a gold sedan with “extremely heavy” damage to the front end in the Dave and Buster’s parking lot, the statement said.

LONDONDERRY, NH Londonderry police have issued charges in an animal cruelty case after receiving a call from a Massachusetts veterinarian s office.
Police were notified that a dog named Odie was brought to Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, MA, by the dog owner for injuries received from a dog bite on May 8, 2020.
A veterinarian contacted police after her treatment of Odie showed injuries not consistent with a dog fight or dog bite.

Matthew Simonson, 35, of Greenville, New Hampshire, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), leaving the scene of person injury, leaving the scene of property damage and operating to endanger.
Around 3:30 a.m., a Braintree police officer on patrol near the South Shore Plaza was flagged down by a man who said he witnessed a hit-and-run crash.

POWELL TOWNSHIP The Powell Township School District has earned honors for an outstanding school bus safety maintenance program, according to AAA Michigan. The school district earned a “Golden Wrench” award, which is given to school districts whose bus fleet is judged free of all safety-related defects for at least three consecutive years. The award was presented Jan. 24 during an Upper Peninsula Traffic Safety Committee meeting in Marquette. The awards are based on mandatory mechanical and structural inspections conducted by state police.
