Vickie Thomas, the longtime radio journalist who retired from WWJ-AM (950) after 30 years, reported her own news Thursday. She is joining Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan s administration as communications director. She announced the move Thursday on-air, and the news quickly spread via social media.  Thursday is her final day at the all-news station, although she had said she plans to keep doing her weekly Black Business Minute segment for WWJ. It s unclear whether her new job will raise any conflicts in continuing in that role.
