The Aquinnah board of selectmen will reach out to the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head (Aquinnah) through a letter inviting them back to the table to talk about the tribe’s gambling facility.
“Invite them back to the table so we can talk and make it clear that this board of selectmen was never against the casino,” Newman said. “We were just trying to work with them so we can cooperate with whatever is going on, because whatever they have there is certainly going to impact the town one way or the other, and we need to work together on this. And it’s difficult.”

More than 200 high school and college students from around the world have signed up for the Feb. 20-21 Camden Conference, “The Geopolitics of the Arctic: A Region in Peril,” taking advantage of the organization’s decision to waive student ticket fees for this year’s virtual event.
Kimberly Scott, Executive Director of the Camden Conference, said “Recognizing this unique and challenging year we are offering the virtual conference free of charge to all students in Maine and around the world who would like to participate.” Scott reports that, while the majority of students registered attend Maine high schools and universities, others will attend from multiple states and as far away as Alaska, the United Kingdom, and India.

I love salted caramel, and of course I love dark chocolate, so I layered these two flavors with my favorite shortbread crust. It’s melt-in-your-mouth good, and it is quickly becoming a favorite with my family, friends and customers! For even more gooey goodness, drizzle bottled caramel sauce over top. Lisa Glenn, Sarasota
