Berlin police assist in arrest of Groveton man wanted by Tennessee authorities

BERLIN — Berlin police were recognized by Tennessee officials with assisting with apprehending a Groveton man wanted for allegedly selling prescription pills he obtained using TennCare healthcare insurance benefits.

Posted January 5th, 2021 for Tennessee Government Tuesday, January 05, 2021 12:42pm NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A Dickson County woman is charged with TennCare fraud and theft of services for allegedly falsely reporting that she had custody of her son in order to obtain TennCare benefits for herself. The Office of Inspector General (OIG), in a joint effort with the , today announced the arrest of 31-year old Megan Hood of Dickson. Both charges against her are class D felonies. Investigators allege that Hood falsely reported that she had custody of her son in order to receive TennCare benefits for herself.  As a result, the state says TennCare paid more than $9,000 in fees and claims on her behalf.

Marion County Woman Charged With TennCare Drug Fraud Monday, December 21, 2020 A Marion County woman is charged with TennCare fraud in a case involving prescription drugs.   The Office of Inspector General, in a joint effort with the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Marion County Sheriff’s office today announced the arrest of 50-year old Patricia Hargis of South Pittsburg. She is charged with one count of TennCare fraud, a class D felony.  The case is being prosecuted by District Attorney General Mike Taylor of Marion County.   Investigators allege that Ms. Hargis knowingly used TennCare benefits to obtain a prescription for 84 tablets of Oxycodone, then selling a portion of the pills. TennCare paid for both the doctor’s visit and the prescription.
