If voters have any specific questions about whether they are qualified to vote by absentee or which ward they are located in, they are encouraged to contact the municipal clerkâs office at either 662-841-6505 or 662-841-6506.
Kim Hanna, Tupeloâs municipal clerk, said this year s ballot will be contained to a single sheet, and even though two of the cityâs seven council seats are uncontested, the contested mayoral race means âthere will be a contested race in every single ward.â
Mississippi has some of the most restrictive absentee voting laws in the country with no provisions for early voting, and only a limited number of excuses that voters may legally cast absentee ballots in advance of election day.

A car speeds by the the West Jackson Street development signage for new lots for sale on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Since 2013, the city of Tupelo has spent at least $3.2 million in public dollars to redevelop the Jackson Street corridor. But the project, originally intended to stifle growing blight and alleviate the city s dearth of affordable housing, has hit its fair share of snags along the way, and the houses aren t nearly as affordable as originally intended.

TUPELO â¢Â Rosezlia âRosieâ Jones, a candidate running for the Tupelo City Council s Ward 7 seat, has missed a second deadline to file campaign finance reports, again violating the stateâs ethics laws.
State law requires all candidates involved in a runoff election to file a report by 5 p.m. on April 20 detailing who has donated to their campaigns and how theyâve spent their campaign dollars.
Out of the six candidates who will appear on the ballot for runoff elections next week, Jones was the only candidate who did not file a campaign finance report.
Jones is competing in the wardâs Democratic runoff against incumbent Councilman Willie Jennings. She told the Daily Journal that she has not filed the report because she works during the day and does not have adequate time to file the form at City Hall.
