A 19-year-old Michigan teen who was killed by a cop in a shootout after opening fire on the officer had lost her boyfriend to a police shooting days earlier.
Briana Sykes was identified by police as the victim that was shot around 2.15pm on Saturday just blocks away from a Juneteenth parade.

Sykes death prompted a wave of tribute posts on social media from her loved ones, including one claiming the 19-year-old s boyfriend had also died by police just days before.
Her cousin, Micajah Reynold wrote to Facebook: Many already know and have reached out but for those who don t, my cousin was the woman in the viral video who was killed by police Saturday in Flint after firing at an officer.
With no officers, future of Thetford Township Police Department up in the air

THETFORD TOWNSHIP, MI It has been months since Thetford Township has had any officers in its police department, according to officials.
The last Thetford Township officer resigned around the end of October or early November, according to Thetford Township Supervisor Rachel Stanke.
It’s now up to the Thetford Township Board of Trustees, Stanke said, to determine the future of the department.
“The process would be that it gets brought to the board meeting, but there’s been some other things we’ve been trying to wrap up as well, so it hasn’t made it to the agenda yet,” Stanke said.

The motion was made and passed to begin shutting down the police department and selling its equipment.
More than 67 percent of voters chose “no” when asked if they’d like to approve an operations millage to keep the Gaines Township Police Department afloat during the May 4 special election Tuesday.
If passed, the levy would have secured approximately $179,000 per year for the department over a five-year period, per the ballot proposal. The millage received 594 votes in favor and 1,223 votes against, according to unofficial results.
