With COVID-19 cases rising and the delta variant spreading, local health officials are now urging businesses to require their employees get vaccinated. Santa Clara, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties jointly announced Thursday (July 22) that they strongly recommend all employers consider implementing protocols requiring vaccination for employees, though the counties stopped short of making it a requirement. The increase in COVID-19 cases puts those who havenât been vaccinated at risk of serious illness and death, said Santa Clara County deputy health officer Dr. George Han at a press conference. Vaccines are safe and effective, even against the delta variant, Han said.
