It’s been nearly nine years since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in
Miller v. Alabama that mandatory life without parole for juveniles violates the Eighth Amendment. It’s been five years since it held in
Montgomery v. Louisiana that its 2012 decision was retroactive. In that time, Amy Breihan has helped seek second chances for prisoners in Missouri who were younger than age 18 when they were sentenced to life behind bars.

Elizabeth Greene had been practicing with Mirick, O’Connell, DeMallie & Lougee in Worcester, Massachusetts, for two years in 1997 when she heard about a new opportunity. She received an email from a partner who volunteered with the American Heart Association but was moving on to other projects. He told her the organization wanted to rekindle its presence in central Massachusetts and needed someone’s help.

DOBSON Each member of Facilities and Maintenance Department at Surry Community College recently earned a certificate in Lean Six Sigma White Belt Training from the United Quality Management Institute.
The 21-member team completed a four-hour training session that began Oct. 13, and ended Jan. 15. Their instructor was Dr. Ron Fite of the United Quality Management Institute.
“I watched presentations about the facilities and maintenance projects as a part of the class competition,” said SCC President Dr. David Shockley. “I was so proud of our employees detailing how they will make their areas lean and more efficient. Other areas of the college team will go through lean training including human resources, finance, technology services, and advising.”

NASCAR and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) have a vision for growing their own engineers, marketing specialists, drivers, and pit crew members. RCR boasts excellence with over 16 championships and 200 victories across NASCAR’s top three series. They want to see students through high school and college enter into STEAM careers in NASCAR.
He seemed an old soul with so much wisdom, she said through tears. Henry was so looking forward to and so excited to begin the next chapter of his life. He approached life with gusto and left no stone unturned. He was always smiling and it will last in us forever. Family and friends gathered on Friday morning to farewell Henry Jennings killed in an alleged hit and run incident. Henry s father Peter spoke of his son s love of the water. Even his showers would take 20 minutes, he said laughing. He was generous and giving, especially with others money. Henry played and was an avid fan of all sports, he was a team player, win, lose or draw.
